Patternmaker
The Patternmaker is responsible for creating and engineering 1st Proto through Production patterns. This individual will work hand in hand with the Designers and Senior Patternmaker to bring their vision to life. This position will work primarily in Women’s Wovens but may be required to assist the Senior Patternmaker on other categories based on workload or calendar deadlines.
Core Duties
- Work with the Designer and Senior Patternmaker to interpret their ideas into designs
- Create 1st specs and complete Tukatech patterns with all necessary construction and BOM call outs
- Measure all reference garments, fit samples, PPS samples, and TOP samples
- Identify issues with the measured specs and address them, prior to the scheduled fittings
- Attend fittings, as needed, with the Fit Tech, Designer, Fit Model, and Senior Patternmaker
- Participate in fittings, as needed, to problem-solve and execute revisions
- Work closely with Design, Pre-production, Sample Sewers, and the Quality Control team to achieve the desired construction and fit results
- Complete pattern work and pattern revisions as directed by the Senior Patternmaker
- Establish base size target specs
- Problem-solve with the Product Development and Production team to answer technical questions and solve problems
- Ensure size, fit, construction, and quality consistency
- Calculate fabric yield consumptions
Qualifications
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, flexible in changing direction as needed
- Proficient in MS Office and Adobe applications including Word, Excel, and Illustrator
- Candidate must be highly organized and able to prioritize with a sense of urgency
- Candidate must be a team player, willing and able to work cross-functionally with multiple departments
- Dynamic problem solving and project management skills
- Must have proven knowledge of garment construction including points of measurement and sewing techniques
- Proven experience with lighter weight fabrics (chiffon, CDC, crepe) and draping techniques
- Must have a thorough understanding of patterns, grade rules, and garment engineering
Education/Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ technical experience as a Patternmaker
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working in Women’s Apparel
- Tukatech experience is a plus
- Experience working with Plus Sizes is desirable
- Able to work and think independently as well as part of a team
- Excellent follow-through and attention to detail
